The Importance of Self Isolation

Image
If you need to self-isolate staying at home may be difficult and frustrating, but there are things that you can do to help make it easier. These include: · Plan ahead and think about what you will need in order to be able to stay at home. · Make us aware of your situation so that we can ensure that your calls are covered. · Talk to us to get access to the things you will need to make your stay at home a success. · Think about and plan how you can get access to food and other supplies such as medications that you will need during this period. · Ask friends or family to drop off anything you need or order supplies online, but make sure these are left outside your home for you to collect. · Make sure that you keep in touch with friends, family and your colleagues over the phone or through social media. · Think about things you can do during your time at home. The Importance of Going Into Quarantine

In light of the most recent government announcement, it is vital that people stay at home and only leave their homes for "very limited purposes." * Shopping for basic foods and necessities * One form of exercise a day, such as run, walk or cycle. This can be done alone or with members of your household * Any medical need- to give care or to help a vulnerable person * Travelling to and from work, but only if this is "absolutely necessary" and cannot be done from home. You can find further detailed information at the link below:  https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/full-guidance-on-staying-at-home-and-away-from-others If you contract Coronavirus, you and all household members must remain at home. If possible, you should not go out even to buy food or other essentials, other than exercise, and in that case at a safe distance from others. The 14-day period starts from the day the first person in your house became ill. If you req

What is Social Distancing?

Image
At CareMatch it is extremely important for all our carers to adhere to the social distancing guidelines as much as possible to ensure your own health and safety and that of our clients. Social distancing measures are steps you can take to reduce social interaction between people. This will help reduce the transmission of coronavirus (COVID-19). They are to: 1. Avoid contact with someone who is displaying symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19). These symptoms include high temperature and/or new and continuous cough- if you suspect that one of our clients has coronavirus, it's essential that you make the other carers aware, the clients family and the client's GP and 111. 2. As soon as you get home from your calls, make sure that you change all your clothes and put them in the wash as soon as you get home, and that you have a shower. 3. Avoid non-essential use of public transport when possible. 4. Use telephone or online services to contact your GP or other essential

Great British Care Awards- Regional Finalist, Becky Stroud I have been with CareMatch since its launch in 2017. I have seen CareMatch grow from covering just one area to expanding across several areas. I can honestly say that I’m incredibly proud to work with CareMatch, it has changed the way we deliver care to our clients. Therefore, I thought it’s only right I share some of my exciting news with you all! Yesterday I had the most amazing day possible, I went for my judging interview for Home Care Worker of the Year 2019. I feel extremely  honoured, not only to have been nominated, but to be a finalist! To me it’s my job to make people smile and care for them, but one family whom I class as my second family nominated me for this amazing award, and I can’t find the words to thank them enough for this. I feel so proud, honoured and lucky to have cared for John, who sadly passed away a few months ago. He was an absolute legend and made everything worthwhile.

Created by The National Association of Care & Support Workers (NACAS), CareMatch are proud to support Professional Care Workers’ Day on Wednesday 4th September.  NACAS was founded in 2016, and all members are individuals employed in professional care and support in the social care sector.  You can find out more about NACAS here: https://nacas.org.uk/about.html CareMatch pride themselves in doing care differently. Each client is part of a specific Care Hub created just for them. This hub consists of the client (where possible), the client’s family, the local authority and their specific team of 3-4 carers. All of the carers in each specific hub  work extremely hard at being part of an effective and supportive team- examples of this include covering shifts if required and offering a lot of support during the period of heavy snow that we had, when it was often difficult to get to clients. Being a self-employed carer can be a daunting prospect, but CareMatch ar
